In the heart of Downtown Oakland, a vibrant and diverse community, something magical has taken root. The Cutest Black Owned Crystal Store in Oakland – Queen Hippie Gypsy is Oakland’s first Black woman-owned crystal, metaphysical, and artisan botanica, and has become a sanctuary for crystals, spiritual tools, artisan goods, and a hub for Black Girl Magic.
Lilly Ayers, a visionary entrepreneur and community activist from Oakland, California, is the founder of Queen Hippie Gypsy. Growing up as an underprivileged youth in the city, Ayers faced her own share of trials and challenges. Her personal journey as a domestic violence awareness advocate and survivor-led her to organize numerous fundraisers, galas, and walks to raise awareness about this critical issue in her East Bay community.
During her healing process, Ayers discovered the profound power of crystals, meditation, and metaphysical tools. These transformative tools helped her overcome her own traumas, and she felt a calling to share them with others. In 2018, she established Queen Hippie Gypsy with a mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for women of color in the realm of holistic spiritual wellness.
One of the significant challenges Ayers faced was addressing the taboos and misconceptions surrounding religion and holistic wellness within the African American community. Through Queen Hippie Gypsy, she strives to break down these barriers and equip women of color with the tools and knowledge to unlock their spiritual potential.
At Queen Hippie Gypsy, you will find an extensive selection of spiritual supplies, including crystals, herbs, incense, candles, and more. Ayers also highlights the craftsmanship of local women of color-owned businesses by featuring their artisan handcrafted items in her store. As a Black owned crystal store in Oakland, this emphasis on supporting the local community strengthens economic empowerment and fosters collaboration among women entrepreneurs.
But Queen Hippie Gypsy is not just a store; it is a vibrant and inclusive community space. The top floor of the boutique serves as a safe haven for people of color to gather, connect, and nurture their spiritual well-being. Ayers hosts soul-centered community events, healing circles, wellness classes, and various other activities designed to uplift and empower.
Each item at Queen Hippie Gypsy is crafted with intention and blessed by Ayers herself. Whether it’s her handmade intention candles infused with Bible scriptures or her herbal blends, Ayers emphasizes the connection between spirituality and religious beliefs. She believes that spirituality is a deeply personal journey, encouraging individuals to trust their intuition, conduct their own research, and embrace what resonates with them.
Queen Hippie Gypsy stands as a testament to the power of community, healing, and the celebration of Black Girl Magic. Lilly Ayers‘ visionary spirit and unwavering dedication have created a space where women of color can feel seen, heard, and supported in their spiritual growth.
